Detailed Description
This study attempts at understanding the overall role of GSPP intervention that’s started in 2001 as a result of coming together of KSP, UNICEF, and local women’s and children’s organization. Through games and other engaging activities, the GSPP imparts an understanding of the social constructs by which women are marginalized in Indian society and how it limits their access to law enforcement and justice. The intervention also throws light on the proper codes of conduct required for an effective handling of women’s and children’s cases. With a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods, the team tested the impact of the project on both the police personnel and the women who have sought police assistance. On the basis of the overall findings, the study reveals that though the GSPP has led to significant improvements in police personnel’s knowledge, beliefs and attitudes, the training per se has fallen short of improving trainees’ practical approach towards dealing with women’s and children’s cases.
